365-272 The pressures of fame

As if it wasn’t enough pressure to come up with a somewhat interesting photo every day, with my blog being featured on WordPress Freshly Pressed today I feel like the spotlight is on me now. I was at work and decided to check my emails on my phone and noticed a large number of notification emails about my blog. So using my handy WordPress app, I checked my site stats and noticed my views had skyrocketed. Whoa, what’s going on? I soon discovered that yesterday’s post was featured in Freshly Pressed.  Of course it was a post of some flower shots and it didn’t really showcase my usual far out antics 😉 . Cool nonetheless. Well, it was cool until I realized the photos I had taken today up to that point were totally lame. Egads! Talk about pressure! The whole world is watching now. I tried to shoot some small waterfalls on a creek near work and those shots just didn’t work out. The creek area was too cluttered and the lighting was lousy. But if that’s all I had then that’s what I will use, I figured. But as I was starting for home I remembered a large old cemetery nearby that I always wanted to explore. It’s a huge centuries old site and I knew there would be some old textures and details there. After I drove through the large iron gates I traveled down a lane and spotted this nice stone building. The backlighting just made the scene pop and added a bit of “creepiness’ that I like in such shots. I decided to enhance that factor with a toned black and white conversion and a heavy vignette.  Pentax K20D, DA17-70.
