I was only going to photograph the snow against the sky (I do that when I can’t find anything else to shoot) and this little deer came running across the frame. I’m far from an “action” shooter so my reflexes aren’t too swift but I did manage to grab a shot before it ran out of view. With the contrast…

Don’t like “Likes”
I’ve recently have been entering my work in contests, mostly just for fun and feedback and to wile away the winter days. Most “contests”, or competitions, I have been entering have traditional judging, in the sense that a judge or judges choose what they think are the best images of the competition. Those are fine, I don’t have a problem with that…
Trees, cold, and me
What to do during a sub-freezing weather spell? I, for one, carried about my regular work duties – to a point. Although I was out and about prior to the polar vortex plunge, I quickly decided that it wasn’t for me. When you can’t stand being out in the weather after 30 seconds, and you don’t really have to, you find alternative…
Now. where was I?
It was a nice relaxing holiday season but it’s time to get back in the groove. As I mentioned at the tail end of 2013, I was thinking of bringing this blog to an end but decided to stick it out for one more year. So, lucky you, I’ll be around for a little longer. Actually I decided to reconfigure the…
In print, and other musings
My photo, “Curved Pipes”, was chosen to be included in Black and White magazine’s contest issue #101, available on newsstands now. It was placed in the category Pattern/Texture (pg. 231) and is also featured in the table of contents (pg. 11), which was a nice bonus. I have to say though, among the 8 images I submitted, I didn’t think this one…
In a B&W mood
Here’s one from last summer. That’s about all I have to say for the moment, but I will have an announcement coming soon. Enjoy!
Things are slow
I think I snapped the shutter on my camera twice this past week. I can’t even remember what for and I haven’t even bothered to look. I know it wasn’t anything worth shooting. It was probably just so I wouldn’t forget how to use my camera. 🙂 The upcoming holiday season seems to be the only bright spot this time…
Dry time
This has to be longest dry spell I have had for a while towards photography. I’m just not finding anything that interests me. No lights, no shadows, no textures, no nothing. Granted it’s the crappy time of year around here and the days the last week have been, up until today, bright and sunny, which creates a harsh light that…
A bugs life
Speaking of small cars, the most iconic of all time is probably the VW Beetle. At least I think so. This photo is no where near what I wanted to shoot at this VW graveyard. My boss spotted it when we were traveling one day and I thought it was a cool enough place to return for some photography, since I…
Small cars
Single small cars in the city. When they are by themselves among the urban environment they just seem to demand attention. Well they got my attention at least. Of course it helped that I couldn’t find anything else to shoot this particular day 🙂 But I find that happens quite often. You go out to shoot something you had in mind,…
