Winter is winding down. Time to wind up!

Although it has been a relatively mild winter this year it was still winter nonetheless. Winter is my slow period for photography. Not because winter isn’t a great time for fantastic photos, it is, but it’s just not a great time for me. As I mentioned here before I do have a day job, which means I am out and…

Little things mean a lot

I purchased a macro lens a few months back and I’m finally getting able to practice with it a little. Plants and bugs are the natural subjects of macro lenses but since this¬†particular model (Pentax DA35mm Limited)¬†literally focuses right up to the front element, bugs are out of the equation for now. So my focus has been on plants. I…

Feed me

Trying to come up with good content for a photography blog gets to be a little tough after a while. I guess if your a full-time photographer or journalist it’s not that tough. Or maybe if you’re a travel photographer who is always on the move visiting new places every week,¬†I guess filling the blog with exotic imagery may not…

Wrestling with the wind

Yes, I am still in my spring blossom shooting mode. It happens every year for a week or two, then I’m done. After this week I’ll go back to shooting buildings and such, trying to find abstracts, and chasing the light and looking the other way. After yet another bout of weekend illness (flu, fever, cold, whatever you want to…

But Mama, that’s where the fun is

Mama always told me not to look into the eye’s of the sun But mama, that’s where the fun is – B. Springsteen (I always liked the Manfred Mann version) In my never-ending quest to take Spring Blossom photos in new ways (at least for me), today I discovered the sun. Spring has been so long in coming and coupled…

Branching out

Not much to say tonight but I wanted to throw this image up and see how it looks. Just playing around with something different. One can only do spring blossom photos so many ways without wanting to experiment!

Out on a limb

That’s the way I like to approach art. I think I do my best work, and sometimes my worst work,¬†when I am either not thinking at all or when I need to think of something, if that makes any sense. By not thinking I mean not preconceiving. Just going out and shooting whatever I come across that interests me. It…

Probably the last of these

As slow as spring was in coming, the blossoms aren’t sticking around too long. I tried some shots the other day but areas that I thought would be good for shooting were disappointing. It didn’t help that it hit below freezing aver the weekend either. So,¬†to not bore you anymore (if I haven’t already), here’s my “greeting card” pic for…

Switch it up a little

Giving everybody a break from the spring theme photos. The fact that this outhouse in the woods is at least 1,000 feet from the nearest house is a little frightening. That would be one long hard walk, especially in the middle of winter! ūüėČ Looks like it hasn’t been used in a while though. I didn’t dare look inside.
