365-70 Urban shooting

I saw this large sticker that was starting to peel off of a building and thought it could be interesting from a different angle. This is behind what was once a coffee shop. A little bit of urban art, I guess, in an alley. A rare sight where I live. even though my town has a few art galleries and coffee shops there is nothing really hip or artsy about the place. I get stares all of the time when I’m shooting pictures. It’s a bit irritating. I don’t know what they’re thinking when they see me but it’s probably something like “Why on earth is anybody taking pictures around here?” or, probably more likely, “Is he collecting evidence?”. When I shoot in downtown Pittsburgh nobody cares or notices me. I like that. Pentax K20D, DA17-70.

  1. I also get stares and it seems that most people around here don’t see a point in taking pictures for any reason outside of birthday parties or babies. I wore my point and shoot in a little case on my belt and got a LOT of weird looks about that because it wasn’t a cell phone. I have yet to just wander around with my K7 and am not sure if I ever will since it is so large. I think the K-x with a 21mm ltd would be an ideal walk around setup.

Also, I like the depth of field and red, black, and white colors in this image. Very contrasty and the lines really move your eye around the image.
