365-80 Kind of a crazy place

My 365 shot is of the former Western Center (Western State School and Hospital) near Pittsburgh, PA. I thought I would get a picture of it since I was in the area. The facility closed a few years ago and, suspiciously soon after, the land was sold to a nearby affluent office park development. I’m sure there wasn’t any backhanded political dealings involved with that ;-).  This is the former  administration building and was used in the movie “Silence of the Lambs“. The building is quite impressive and looks remarkably solid and intact. It can be easily seen sitting on the hill as you travel on the nearby interstate highway, I-79. The place has always seemed creepy with tales of inhumane  insane asylum type treatments and experiments. Shot with my Pentax K20D and DA17-70 lens. I processed this in black and white using Nik Silver Efex filter.
