Besides a cool song that I like to play on guitar, it’s also what I discovered today. My wife and I were driving by the county fairgrounds when she asked if I ever looked around them for any pictures. I thought about it in the past but never drove onto the grounds. There is, of course, no fair going on right now but there are animal stables and people keep horses there so I thought there may be a photo op or two. Driving through and looking at the various buildings I was, at first, just looking for detail shots or still lifes. I saw a couple cats in an empty exhibit hall and was going to try to shoot them but it was really dark in there. Just then, my wife noticed other cats on the other side of my truck. There were cats everywhere! Hanging around some type of wooden structure. I got to take a few portraits since, although they were skittish, they didn’t try to hide. All with Pentax K20D and DA55-300. Since the cats were generally in the shadows I shot at ISO 400-800. I would have liked to go higher for faster shutter speeds but I’m always apprehensive about that on the K20D. I predict a K-5 in my future. Whenever I find a job, of course!
These Eyes
Very cool cat story.
Thanks Nathan. I may have to revisit them again.
