Looking back at the past few weeks worth of photos, I really think I’m all over the place a little too much. I thought I would surely have a consistent style and rhythm down by now and this daily shot thing would be a breeze, right? Wrong….well, in a way. Although I still don’t see a style emerging, I do find my constant experiments have helped me in the sense that I seem to fit a style to a situation. I’m not forcing a certain look on a subject. I find when I am out shooting and I come across a place or a thing to photograph I run through my various processes in my mind and decide which is right for the task. Sometimes its immediate, other times I just start shooting and after a few shots I begin to see what will work. And there have also been the few times where I don’t get the vision until I see the photo on my monitor. Todays photo is a little of the latter. I found myself in an industrial area after a rainstorm and I liked this tower against the late afternoon clouds. I took a few different shots of it imagining a black and white image, even though the clouds had nice color. But when I saw it on my monitor, I knew I had to go with a color image. Besides there isn’t really much to the image so the color adds a nice dimension. Pentax K20D, DA 17-70.
