When I see a zebra in the window of an urban store, I’m thinking “hmm, there’s a picture.” Unfortunately when a zebra is in the window, it probably isn’t alive. It wasn’t. The store ended up being a soon to be opened taxidermy shop. Lots of cool animals “hanging around” but the reflections and glare on the windows made it difficult to shoot anything (photographically, since the actual “shooting” has already taken place), so I had to close crop on details to eliminate the reflections of the street. I went for the abstract instead.
I chose the black and white for my 365 because I haven’t done any B&W in a few days. Using Nik Silver Efex for the conversion I did a little dodging and burning and then pumped up the contrast to enhance the…well, black and white. For the color shot, I added multiple layers of Topaz with enhanced grain for an even more surreal look. Pentax K20D, DA18-135.

Haha even though the zebra was fake, these are really pretty photos! The second one has great colors 🙂
The first photo really speaks to me. Great shot!
I do like the B&W–sometimes details seem to pop in them. He does look real!
Wow! That first shot of the zebra is Amazing!!
