Every once in a while I come across a scene that just intrigues me. It could be something simple like a color or texture that first captures my attention and then I just have to stop and get a photo. This scene was one of those. I just liked the colors and textures at work here. Add the cross, the pink railing, and the “workmanship” and I was hooked. I realize it is just a picture of a wall but I kind of like it. Then again, maybe it’s just me. Pentax K20D, DA17-70.

Very cool abstract composition and colors.
Thanks Neil!
Definitely not just you. I love the faded colors and all the different textures together.
Thank you Sarah. I guess I’m not completely crazy.
It’s not just you!
Thanks Conor.
This is one of those things where there’s part of me that wants to say, “Bright colors would be better!”
Then the more discriminating part of me kicks in and says, “No. If it were bright, saturated colors, it wouldn’t have the same effect.”
All that to say, the shot is wonderful, and as those who posted before me said, it’s definitely not just you.
The somewhat muted tones are what I believe grabbed my attention in the first place. I think I’m drawn more to subtle color than bold, in your face colors. That’s why I have a hard time going with black and white of late. If there is enough subtle color gradations in a scene I like to keep it in color, especially where any detail is concerned, even if it would make a great B&W image..
