A couple of earthy, woody shots for today. I don’t think I’ll win any composition awards with these but I liked the general warmth of the photos. I processed the photos with a warming filter, which basically steers the color balance towards yellow. It’s a bit of an extreme shift, and one that wouldn’t work well in a lot of situations, but I think it works here because of the woody subject matter.
These photos are a kind of rebuttal to yesterdays photos, where I was going for maximum color punch. I originally thought that I would process these photos as black and white, to emphasis the textures, but I ended up liking the color better, even though they are almost monochromatic in a sense. There just wasn’t enough contrast in the scenes to work well as B&W shots, in my opinion, so I think the warm color tones add another element to the photos that would be missing in B&W.

i really like the first photograph & how your composition allowed my eyes to wander the scene
Thanks Chloe. Yes, there are a lot of dissecting squiggly lines to make the eye wander.
