Bend it like Escher

He who wonders discovers that this in itself is wonder. –  M. C. Escher
OK, this doesn’t quite look like an Escher drawing, but that’s what shiny globe reflections always remind me of.  I shot this while wandering past some antique shops in a nearby town where I can usually find interesting objects to shoot that are displayed in the windows. I was still on a camera test, just getting used to the handling of it and seeing how it performs in different settings and light in preparation for an upcoming trip and I thought the shops would provide a good variety of conditions.
One shop in particular always has kitschy funky furniture on display and I liked how the chrome ball on this lamp (I think) reflected me and the street behind me. So, yes, it’s a self-portrait of sorts. Not the most flattering portrait with all of the distortion, but one has to make sacrifices in the name of art! 🙂 I thought it worked best in black and white to keep the focus on the ball and eliminate any distracting colors.
