It’s inevitable that when I view a gallery of someones trip to Paris on a photo forum, I’ll see a photo of the numerous padlocks attached to a bridge. Known as love locks, they are meant to symbolize everlasting love. I understand they are popular in a number of international cities and, as I discovered the other day, in Pittsburgh also! These are on the fence of the Schenley Drive bridge at the entrance to Schenley Park.
But since these are photos of padlocks, I thought I should jazz ’em up a little to ease the boredom. At the risk of looking too “Instagrammy”, I went with a cross process look during processing. It seemed to work in making these pics somewhat interesting. 😉
We had those here in Sydney as well, on a fence near the Harbour Bridge. Unfortunately our Council decided to be a bunch of scrooges and said that they were a hazard to public safety (for whatever reason) and that if you wanted to keep your love lock, you should go take it off by a certain date. Any that were left there were to be cut off and thrown away. So sad.
these are awesome, i’ve never heard of / seen this before and i love it – so quirky
i really like your photographs
Nice photos! I’ve seen one of these once before, in Seoul, South Korea.
