The party’s over, turn out the lights

A little break from my experiments. While I was in the park the other day trying to fulfill my artistic vision ūüėČ I took a few shots of this lonely swing set. I don’t know why, it was something to shoot but really¬†didn’t offer much as far as details or textures. Regardless, I took a few shots, trying to play…

I can’t explain

I can’t explain much about this photo other than I took it through the window of an old storefront in Wheeling. It was in a large building and touted itself as an antiques store but it just looked like a bunch of useless junk sitting in an old warehouse. I think it was still in business, or at least recently…

Ouch

I had a nice long three-day weekend and didn’t perform any photography to speak of. It was a beautiful weekend also, weather-wise. But the reason I didn’t get to shoot anything is because I was in pain all weekend. I don’t know what happened and can’t remember any event that triggered it but my right hip, knees, lower back, chest,…

Euro Love

It’s inevitable that when I view a gallery of someones trip to Paris on a photo forum, I’ll see a photo of the numerous padlocks¬†attached to¬†a bridge. Known as love locks, they are meant to symbolize everlasting love. I¬†understand they are popular in a number of international cities and, as I discovered the other day, in Pittsburgh also! These are…

Sometimes you just like a photo for no apparent reason

I like todays picture. I’m not really sure why. It doesn’t offer much along the lines of subject matter –¬†just some black cattle, scattered around the photo. It’s not necessarily a good composition. The image¬†is kind of dark, in my opinion, but I wanted it that way. I wanted the black cattle to be black, just like they looked in…

I don’t have a cat

I had a whole diatribe planned on how folks buy¬†a Nikon D800 or equivalent camera along with an equally expensive lens only to take pictures of their cat, but I decided not to. It’s a holiday here in the USA and I don’t want to be a sour “puss” ūüôā So here is a cat photo that¬†I took yesterday. My…

Details in various processes.

I would have liked to keep both of these shots the same for consistency, either color or black and white, but they each worked better in separate mediums. The door knob looked best in black and white as the door was painted a dark olive green,¬†which didn’t look too exciting. The second shot of the doorbell looked best in color…

Woodsy

A little diversion from the carnival and into the woods of West Virginia. Just a lot of trees there.

School daze

Some colorfully painted school buses that were sitting at the local fairgrounds. I am assuming that they were¬†there for a school bus demolition derby. Maybe I’ll be able to get an after picture later in the week. ūüėȬ† All taken with the GX1, G14¬†or PL25mm.

Fair opportunity

It’s the time of year for the county fair and I think I am going to try to visit this year, mainly for the photo ops. Weather permitting of course, since the parking areas are just grassy fields and they can get rather messy when it rains. I sold my truck a few months ago so I currently lack a…
