I visited the county park today to attempt some autumn photos. It was a beautiful day with the sunshine and blue skies and the park was looking very nice. The crowds weren’t too bad and a lot of people were doing the same thing I was – taking pictures. Only they seemed to be taking pictures of each other and not the trees. 😉
My one disappointment was that almost all of the leaves were yellow. Almost no other colors could be found. It made for a nice golden hue filtering through the woods but after a while it was tough to take any photos with any variation. So I left out the big picture shots and thought I would just focus on details. I’m not sure what it was today but I wasn’t find anything that interested me creatively. Just wasn’t feeling anything. So no award winning shots today but I did experiment a little, got a few shots in including some “post-cardy” shots, and generally had a nice day enjoying the autumn woods.
Both of these photos were done using some in camera effects. The first shot is simply a double exposure with the second shot being out-of-focus. For the other shot I took advantage of an in camera filter that creates star-shaped highlights. I know, a bit gimmicky. Maybe all of that yellow light was making me a little loopy.
I like the dreamy effect of the first photo–it’s quite lovely.
Thanks. The double exposure works well for the dreamy look, although it doesn’t always work depending on the subject.
Our leaves have already changed color all the way to brown and dropped. We had less than a week of “fall”, more like two days. It’s my favorite season, so it’s nice to see some pictures since I won’t get to experience it for myself.
Glad I could help. It’s been kind of slow in coming around here but with the cold spell over the weekend with freezing night temperatures I imagine it will go quickly down hill now.
