Shooting snow has always been a challenge for me, especially when there is no other subject in the photo. I want to keep the brightness of it yet still retain the texture detail. Of course I overexposed when I shot so I wouldn’t end up with dark gray photos but I still had the highlights to consider, I didn’t want to burn out the brighter areas, so I didn’t go over +1 stop at the time of shooting. Then the processing has its own set of challenges. Again I went for as bright an image as I could without getting too bright. I went with black and white for these shots even though there isn’t much difference from the color versions, with the exception that the shadows would go more towards blue. The black and white kept the images simple, as I intended.
And for your musical enjoyment, what else but Jimi Hendrix – “Drifting”
Nice job 🙂 I’ve also never heard that Jimi Song! Thanks twice 🙂
Thanks Charlie. I like the popular numbers but it’s fun to dig into Jimi’s back catalogue at times.
