Changing

I want to change the way I shoot. I spent almost a whole day in the city of Pittsburgh on Friday and this is my favorite shot of the day. I like the strong shadows as the skateboarder tried numerous attempts. Not much, I know but at least it has some kind of vision. And I know the reason why. I was trying to be normal. I was just taking straight on shots, heck I even took my tripod to the Point to do a slow exposure of the newly rebuilt fountain at sunset. A tripod? Me? Sunset?

That kind of shooting works great for other people but for some reason I think I fall short. I need to look this way when others are looking that way. I need to have limitations with my gear that forces me to be creative. I should have been at the Point with my Takumar lenses and used the fountain as a background and not a subject. The results may not have been better but I probably would have been more satisfied that I tried something different.

I’ll probably post the fountain pictures later this week. I need to warn you that they are normal – and that’s what I need to change.

Thanks AW. I look forward to it also. I have a feeling it may be a gradual change.
