Clearly this egg was a natural for a still life. It was located in a store that seems to specialize in kitschy 60’s furniture and décor. The color it reflected was nice but I liked the simplicity of the black and white, which eliminated a few distracting elements. I added a little grain to soften the mood a little.

Man, if I only had the time
I took a short trip to Vermont over the weekend and spent most of my time behind the wheel of my car. It was a WAY longer drive than what I was thinking and I probably bit off more than I could chew, so to speak. But I wanted to see one of my photos in a gallery exhibition and it was…
See through
Winter is sticking around a bit too much this year and I’m feeling like I have cabin fever even though I get out of the house every day. Maybe it’s “camera” fever, where I am not being able to do any shooting. I thought about doing some indoor still life stuff but I don’t have the lights or props to…
Classic?
I don’t know what a half drunk case of Classic Coke has to do with antiques, but there it was!
Glass
I find that glass, in the form of bottles and vases, always makes for interesting still lifes. The transparency, curves and reflections allow for an almost endless variety of compositions. Subtle changes in light or angle can take on a whole new look. I should make it a quest to collect old bottles when I find them and save them…
Ghosts of the machine…….NOW with bokeh!
How about a few shots of what was a piece of construction machinery that burned up? The machine was hauled away but some debris remained. Melted glass (in a nice aqua color, I might add), burnt rubber, and steel. And while we are at it, who can’t resist bokeh? Everybody loves it! So when you add bokeh to trash it…
Fair opportunity
It’s the time of year for the county fair and I think I am going to try to visit this year, mainly for the photo ops. Weather permitting of course, since the parking areas are just grassy fields and they can get rather messy when it rains. I sold my truck a few months ago so I currently lack a…
Through the looking glass
In this case, the looking glass being the window of an antiques store. I was walking around Wheeling the other day looking for things to shoot, mostly to test a new camera. I like to try out a camera in a variety of real world shooting situations and take photos of things I normally shoot to get a real evaluation…

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everybody! A Christmas Toast
365-249 Time for a new camera?
Found myself in Wheeling again today to take care of some business. It was yet another constant rainy day. I took a few shots around the streets but I wasn’t really liking anything I was seeing. I don’t know, just a creative low I guess. Maybe it’s the weather. Yeah, that’s it! The weather! Okay, okay I know the final…
