365-95 I drove through the park….

… hoping, MAYBE, that there would be some sign of spring, but it looked like February without the snow. No buds, no leaves, mud, dead grass…..aaargh! The other night I was looking in some of my photo files from last year at this same week and there are pictures that I took in the park that show spring blossoms and bright green grass. It’s crazy how…

365-74 Split wood – split tones

Another day of not shooting anything until late. This is a stump in my yard that I really need to get rid of someday. It’s just rotting and I always hit it with my lawn mower, chipping away at it a little at a time. None of these shots are award winners technically. I had to use a high ISO and…

365-65 Movin’ on

Number 65!! Only 300 more to go! 300?!! Yikes. Sticking around the house again today, which makes it tough to find photo subjects. I hope to get out and about more as the weather improves. I’m still layed off from my “normal” job, so I have plenty of time but no money. ;-(  With gas prices rising, I have to…

365-62 Same place, different day

I’m in a bit of a creative funk right now. Both artistically and technically. I’m just not finding shots that work and the few that I thought I would like suffered from bad technical skills. Mostly just too blurry from either camera shake or bad focusing. Some shots look good on the LCD but when I load them onto the…

365-60 Altered reality on a small scale

“Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.” – Camille Pissarro My shot for today is not an abstract macro flower shot, though that’s what it appears to be. It’s a glass of iced green tea with a lime. I shot with my reverse-mounted Super-Takumar 50mm. Light from the window backlit the tea and…

365-54 I really like abstracts

I’ll offer another abstract for my 365 today. It’s in portrait orientation, which is a little rare for me. I’ve been trying to do all landscape oriented photos for my 365, just for consistency sake, but I had no set rule. I tried to rotate this shot but I liked it best in the original vertical. I’m not going to say…

365-31 Soap opera

Simply bubbles in a bottle of Ajax dishwashing liquid. Shot with a reversed Super-Takumar 28mm. Everything worked against me in this shot – I was handholding, the light was low, the bubbles were moving and the plastic bottle distorted. After a few attempts I got a shot. I also did a blue-toned b&w version that I liked along with the original…

365-17

Experimenting with macro again. I took even more pictures of ice today but tried to avoid selecting yet another ice shot for my 365.  The “moon” in this shot is actually a small crystal “switch”, about 3-4mm in size, on a small 4″ glass electric guitar figurine. The “stars” are, of course, dust! Shot with my 28mm Super-Takumar lens reverse mounted and Sunpak flash.…
