Posting about posting

Hi, welcome back! I decided I am going to attempt to post every day in the month of July. Why? Well why not, I say. Seriously, I just feel the need to push myself a little and posting every day necessitates going the extra inch. What the posts will be, I don’t know yet. They may simply be photos with a…

It’s that time

With the summer weather finally upon us I will be taking to some time to get some things done at the house and, of course, taking a holiday or two. I plan on doing some shooting whenever I can fit it in but I don’t know how often I’ll be posting – could be hit or miss. I may throw…

Little things mean a lot

I purchased a macro lens a few months back and I’m finally getting able to practice with it a little. Plants and bugs are the natural subjects of macro lenses but since this particular model (Pentax DA35mm Limited) literally focuses right up to the front element, bugs are out of the equation for now. So my focus has been on plants. I…

Wrestling with the wind

Yes, I am still in my spring blossom shooting mode. It happens every year for a week or two, then I’m done. After this week I’ll go back to shooting buildings and such, trying to find abstracts, and chasing the light and looking the other way. After yet another bout of weekend illness (flu, fever, cold, whatever you want to…

I’m still here sir. (Warning: dead animal)

As I enjoy yet another blast of winter weather, I thought I would take a moment and stop in on my own blog. It seems like forever since I’ve posted but I’m still around, still trying to perform photography. I use “trying” in the loosest sense since I  haven’t done any real shooting in quite some time. I know I shouldn’t…

Into the frame

I was only going to photograph the snow against the sky (I do that when I can’t find anything else to shoot) and this little deer came running across the frame. I’m far from an “action” shooter so my reflexes aren’t too swift but I did manage to grab a shot before it ran out of view. With the contrast…

Don’t like “Likes”

I’ve recently have been entering my work in contests, mostly just for fun and feedback and to wile away the winter days. Most “contests”, or competitions,  I have been entering have traditional judging, in the sense that a judge or judges choose what they think are the best images of the competition. Those are fine, I don’t have a problem with that…

In a B&W mood

Here’s one from last summer. That’s about all I have to say for the moment, but I will have an announcement coming soon. Enjoy!

Things are slow

I think I snapped the shutter on my camera twice this past week. I can’t even remember what for and I haven’t even bothered to look. I know it wasn’t anything worth shooting. It was probably just so I wouldn’t forget how to use my camera. 🙂 The upcoming holiday season seems to be the only bright spot this time…

Autumn of a different color

What to do when the Autumn color just isn’t very spectacular and straight black and white isn’t working? Monochrome of a different color! I visited the local park to see if there was any fall color remaining to at least capture something before the dreaded six months of colorless landscape occurs. Although the park looked “autumny” I really didn’t see any “big picture”…
