A one-two punch and I’m back

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I thought I would give an update on where I’ve been. I visited a doctor about the pain I talked about last time. Tests came back negative and it ended up being some type flu bug. Soon after those symptoms went away. However I still had pain in my shins and it…

Euro Love

It’s inevitable that when I view a gallery of someones trip to Paris on a photo forum, I’ll see a photo of the numerous padlocks attached to a bridge. Known as love locks, they are meant to symbolize everlasting love. I understand they are popular in a number of international cities and, as I discovered the other day, in Pittsburgh also! These are…

Water world (not what I intended)

I certainly didn’t intend, or even expect to take any photos of flowers yesterday. Since we were in the area after dinner, my wife and I drove into Pittsburgh so I could grab a couple of photos. I thought about, and planned on, taking some type of urban black and white shots. But since the cloud cover was pretty nice, I wondered if…

Hoop Dreams II (only a year late)

Worked in the office today and I didn’t get to take any new photos. So, out of curiosity, I looked in my files to see what I shot on this day last year. I found this shot and I never really did anything with it. I chose a different shot from that day for my 365 project (365-250) and I…

Sometimes you just like a photo for no apparent reason

I like todays picture. I’m not really sure why. It doesn’t offer much along the lines of subject matter – just some black cattle, scattered around the photo. It’s not necessarily a good composition. The image is kind of dark, in my opinion, but I wanted it that way. I wanted the black cattle to be black, just like they looked in…

Two for today

Going to break it up a little today. I saw these flowers growing on the end of a grungy painted dumpster today and I liked the nice built-in backgrounds. It looked like the roll off dumpster dug up some dirt while it was being unloaded and it’s been there so long flowers were growing in the dirt. These shots are almost begging…

Steps and doors

A little black and white study in angles taken while on a walk around an urban neighborhood. These photos were taken at separate parts of the journey yet I feel that they belong together. Processed in NIk Silver Efex with a higher contrast to emphasize the geometric shapes.

I don’t have a cat

I had a whole diatribe planned on how folks buy a Nikon D800 or equivalent camera along with an equally expensive lens only to take pictures of their cat, but I decided not to. It’s a holiday here in the USA and I don’t want to be a sour “puss” 🙂 So here is a cat photo that I took yesterday. My…

oops!

The problem with touch screen focus points is that they can unintentionally drift to a far corner while you’re carrying the camera around. Not a problem unless you’re taking a quick grab shot and expecting it to be in the center. At least this shot of a sidewalk sunglass display is colorful, so I’ll call it a happy accident. As…
