Another day of traveling back home. On my way I visited the same place I took last Fridays daily photo. Like last Friday I didn’t have a photo for the day until stopping at the park since there is not much to shoot on a highway in the middle of the day. I had to stop for gas anyway and it’s a short detour to the park where I thought I would be able to get a photo in. I remembered an old cemetery when I was there last week and I figured there should be something interesting to capture. I did get some photos of the cemetery but I stopped by the pond and saw some butterflies and a dragonfly hanging around the grasses and flowers. I normally don’t try to shoot moving insects but these seemed to move around a little slower. Maybe because of the hot, humid summer day. I was able to capture the dragonfly stopping on a weed and it became the first time I successfully took a dragonfly photo. Well, I’m pretty sure it was the first time I ever tried to take a dragonfly photo. The photo is nice enough but I thought I would play around in Photoshop with it and add a little texture since I think dragonflies seem to work well with textures for some reason. I had some rusty textures on file and they added the right warmth to the image. Pentax K20D, DA 55-300.
