365-254 Compression

My one day off today and I had a zillion things to do, so I’ll be short tonight. This is just a simple telephoto compression shot of some downtown buildings. I originally liked it in color due to the various paint colors and details but as soon as I tried a black and white conversion I was instantly drawn to the graphic nature. I went with a higher contrast to emphasize…uhm…something 😉  Pentax K20D, Da 55-30

This picture would be a lot stronger if it was flipped horizontally. The eye joins a picture on the left & goes to the lightest part of the picture. As the lightest tone is on the LHS there is no need for the eye to go anywhere else.

I do agree with your insight. The brighter left does big me but when you have a 365 shot to put up you, at times, have to accept it and move on. Like your blog, BTW. Very informative.
