I’m feeling better then I did yesterday, although I’m not at 100% yet. Because of that I’m staying around the house today, just resting up. So it became obvious that I would have to find something in the house to shoot for my 365 image. I’m never too good at the still life thing, mostly because I lack any kind of proper lighting gear, backdrops, reflectors, and light boxes.
One of my Christmas presents ( to myself really, since I bought with a gift card) was the Pink Floyd “Dark Side of the Moon” box set. It’s one of those things I would like to own but I normally wouldn’t go out and buy, but since I had the gift card I figured, why not? Among the included CD’s and DVD’s are a scarf and a set of three marbles. I thought the marbles would make a nice photo subject. They do, except for the fact that lighting shiny, reflective round objects is difficult, even on a good day. My lighting consisted of the dining room lamp 😦 , so I had to do a lot of trial and error shots to minimize the “lighting” effect. I set the marbles on the foam padding that came with the box and it made for a nice interesting textured surface to offset the smooth marbles. At least I think so, or maybe my head is still a little dizzy 😉 . Pentax K20D, DA17-70

I like that you used the foam – it adds a wonderful texture. I first thought it was sand or something similar.
