Something got wet

As dry as it has been, at least the corn got some rain yesterday and today. Unfortunately the rain came in the form of heavy storms which causes problems more than it helps any drought situations. As an example, I was driving through the hills of West Virginia yesterday and had to turn around multiple times due to flash flooding. A tough situation when you are on a one lane road and you need to turn a truck around. Although I don’t think the area I was at today in northern Pennsylvania has been particularly hard hit by the dry weather, as this corn looks fairly healthy, I know a large part of the USA is suffering and I hope relief comes soon.

As for the photo, I was driving in a….well, driving rain and made a turn onto a road which literally felt like I was driving through a cornfield, with rows of corn on both sides of the narrow road. I grabbed a shot through my truck window, both for “artistic” effect and because I didn’t dare put the window down and risk getting the vehicle (and me!) soaked on the inside.

Well, the corn looks pretty healthy for this ungodly heat. It turned out well through the window–more details than I would expect.
