Wow, it’s getting difficult to find photo subjects as the days get shorter. The project I am on for work keeps me busy until near dark, which doesn’t help. I try to find stuff on the way back to my hotel while there is still light but it’s a well worn path. Occasionally I’ll find something new or see something old in new light but it seems like I’ve seen it all. I do try other routes when I can and that has paid off more than once but the side roads around here (Charleston) are rather narrow and twisty. When I do spot something that I want to explore it’s often difficult to find anywhere to stop or even turn around. And by then it’s dark.
Since I’m in the dark I thought I would explore some potential night shots because that might be my only option soon. So far I have been looking around the city and that is where I shot todays photo. I saw a bridge that is lit by changing color lights. When I got to what I thought was a good vantage point, I realized my lens wasn’t wide enough for the shot I had in mind. Plus, I would have liked some color in the sky but it already had gotten too dark. Oh well. I took a few photos of the bridge since I was there and then I spotted the graffiti under the bridge being lit by the various color lights. I took a few photos of the graffiti but I didn’t think they would turn out too good since it was a real long exposure. My camera doesn’t do low light, long exposures too well. The noise gets a little ugly and I have a hard time trying to hide it in processing. But since it was only graffiti it doesn’t look too bad, I think. Pentax K20D, DA17-70.
Under the Bridge
And here’s the bridge I thought I could shoot:

Cool- lit by changing colored lights. Unusual subject and even more so at night!
Loving the colour in the first picture. Vibrant and exciting. Very cool capture
