Where have I been? I know that you all are wondering that…..right? Ok, maybe not, but I have been in orientation mode at my first week at my new job. My work is in the natural gas business although my position doesn’t have much to do with the actual gas portion….sort of. My concern is mainly the actual sites, not so much the actual work going on…..well, maybe, sometimes….sort of. You get the idea – kind of hard to explain. Anyhow, part of my orientation is just visiting various job sites and today I was in and around a natural gas drilling rig. They’re not as intimidating as they look, once you get up close. I took photos for my reference and since I haven’t posted here all week I thought I would share a couple.
Of course I can’t simply post some normal iPhone photos, so at first I played around with some processing apps on the phone and they looked decent but I thought I could do better on my computer. I didn’t think anyone would find these industrial shots interesting so I figured a little texture treatment on them would help. Throw in some grain and vignette and voila!
By the way, I still believe in using actual cameras so I don’t plan on using the iPhone for too many photos here, I just find them too awkward, but on occasion if I find something interesting I may.

I like them! What are the numbers in the second shot? Are you shooting through a window of some kind?
Thanks. Yes that shot was taken through the window of the control area. I thought the red writing on the glass added a nice abstract effect and bright color element along with the red spray can.
