My test, your pleasure

I wanted to test a recently acquired macro lens and, as it’s still a little yucky around, I decided to try it out at the Phipps Conservatory. A little jump start on spring. Nothing artsy, just flowers.

In a B&W mood

Here’s one from last summer. That’s about all I have to say for the moment, but I will have an announcement coming soon. Enjoy!

Everythings broken

Been having a tough time here at Whatipic headquarters lately. It appears my computer is down for the count. I did just about everything I can think of but it still acting a little crazy. It did a phantom restart the other night, which seemed quite odd and I knew something was up. The next day it started playing random…

Nice and wild

Couldn’t decide if I wanted to post a nice pretty picture or a wild crazy picture – so I’ll just do both! Lets start with the pretty picture. This is another one done with a teal split-tone B&W process. A little different from straight black and white. I like it and thinks it works great on flower pictures   And,…

Teal-riffic

I made my annual visit to shoot some water lilies at the pond outside of Phipps Conservatory, since they look their best this time of year. Although I try to challenge myself to be more creative each time, I am usually quite happy with the straightforward color shots.  The flowers are pretty and colorful and the lily pads and reflections always…

LOL

Sometimes I like to laugh out loud -usually not when I’m typing on a touch screen 🙂

Probably the last of these

As slow as spring was in coming, the blossoms aren’t sticking around too long. I tried some shots the other day but areas that I thought would be good for shooting were disappointing. It didn’t help that it hit below freezing aver the weekend either. So, to not bore you anymore (if I haven’t already), here’s my “greeting card” pic for…

The pause that refreshes

It took a really slow steady pause to take this photo. With high magnification, a branch swaying in the breeze and a likewise swaying photographer trying to keep something in focus at the right moment that the shutter clicks, it was an exercise in patience. Sure I could have clipped a branch, taken it into a studio, put the camera on…

It was a day in September

I’ve been gradually cleaning my files out over the past week, getting rid of a lot of junk photos that were just taking up space. I do a lot of test shots when I get new gear and after using them for evaluation, they don’t really serve a need any longer, yet I always forget to delete them. So on occasion…

Had to get out of the rain

Day number 6 of rain on my vacation so I thought a nice diversion would be to visit the Phipps Conservatory and enjoy a little color….while staying dry of course. The tropical “rain” forest wasn’t too inviting 😉 but all in all it was a nice place to enjoy some different scenery and exotic plant life. Photography-wise I just took the…
