Just Posting Vol. 2

A continuation of my posting of what I think is uninspiring photography  that I have been doing lately. I thought this shot would look good in black and white but it just didn’t work out. Too busy or contrasty or something. So I settled on the color but I’m still not happy – maybe too much green or something.

T is for tree

Just a couple of tree photos I took over the last few days. I’m not overly happy with them, mostly because I didn’t take the time to study the scenes. I was thinking too “normal” when I was shooting.  It was only afterwards, when viewing the images on the computer, that I spotted way better compositions that I totally missed. Sigh.…

A grave decision

I have been a little heavy on the black and white lately so I decided some color pics would be nice. And what’s more colorful than flowers? Astute readers may note that there are graves in the photos and are probably thinking, “geesh, is that guy in the cemetery again?” Well, not really. I was in Columbus for a vintage guitar…

A rocky start

Just a few more black and white images to share with you. These were all taken around a campground and the subjects are basically non-subjects. Hey, I can only shoot what’s in front of me. 🙂 For some reason I am really liking the black and white images I have been getting with the Lumix camera lately. I don’t know what…

Sea and surf

Until I get done processing more of the monastery photos, I thought I would show a few beach photos. Waking up and hearing the ocean and taking walks on the beach in the evening were some of the relaxing moments of my trip. It’s a different feeling that you don’t get in Pennsylvania. I kept most of my beach shooting…

Changes in latitude

Well after a few days in Miami I am back home. To go from 80ºF with the sound of a Lamborghini driving by to 40ºF with the sound of a four-color Cavalier driving by is too much of a culture shock 🙂 . Regardless, I had a good time with my wife and enjoyed the change in scenery. I didn’t get…

Same subject, same day

Different camera. Just a different take on the blossoms I showed the other day in black and white. This shot was taken with a different camera but at the same place. I went with a completely different processing on this one though. I liked the brightness  of it and the muted tones. Completely different from the heavy contrast of the…

Watch those auto levels

One of the first things I do when I open a RAW file in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) is hit the “auto” button which corrects the levels to what it thinks is right for the image. Most times it does a good job and I only have to make a few tweaks on the sliders before opening the file in…

Enchanting camper

When I originally spotted this camper, I was drawn to its aqua blue trim along the top, in addition to its condition and placement within the scene. And it does, in fact, make a nice color photo as the wooded area is a nice bright green. But after processing, I began to think that it would do well as a black and white…

Crickets chirping….

…..is what I hear around here lately. It’s been a bit lonely with the lack of visitors but I have no one to blame but myself. My photography output is way down since last years 365 project. Plus I find that, without the pressure of having to do a daily photo, I don’t push myself to get out there and shoot. I…
